E3 | Microsoft | Sony | Ubisoft | Yannis Mallat | Animation numérique

On veut empêcher toute fuite.

sadness/loss/regrets/disppointment all in one!

this sunday, i learned about the big fat news. it was not pleasant to hear, it hurt even, we were all sadened by it.

people come and go. they may also disappoint us, we need to accept that.

changes are always so hard to take though. but i learn from that ...

rough notes on disappointment

after sadness/loss, regrets/frustration, now comes disappointment. it is also a very bad feeling, that makes me angry at people acutally. i feel offended when people conclude too fast or assume things that are not true. hurtful.
or people who are not considerate, just selfish. but am i selfish too when i get hurt thinking that they should also consider my needs instead of only theirs? do they even realize that they are being selfish? our world is so complicated now ... we cannot assume anything!

voila, i am hurt again. i am growing and aging. the process hurts me inside and outside =(
not fun!!!

Fete des meres

C'etait la fete des meres hier!

Here is a mom's version of 1 Corinthians 13 (Adapted from James Fowler).

If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place, but have not love,
I am a housekeeper, not a homemaker.
If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements, but have not love,
my children learn cleanliness, not godliness.
If I scream at my children for every infraction, and fault them for every mess they make, but have not love,
my children become people-pleasers, not obedient children.
Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.
Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk.
Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.
Love accepts the fact that I am the ever-present "mommy,"the taxi-driver to every childhood event, the counselor when my children fail or are hurt.
Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler, and runs with the child, then stands aside to let the youth walk into adulthood.
Before I became a mother I took glory in my house of perfection.
Now I glory in God's perfection of my child.
All the projections I had for my house and my childrenhave faded away into insignificance,
And what remain are the memories of my kids.
All the projections I had for my house and my childrenhave faded away into insignificance,
And what remain are the memories of my kids.
Now there abides in my home scratches on most of the furniture, dishes with missing place settings, and bedroom walls full of stickers, posters and markings,
But the greatest of all is the Love that permeates my relationships with my children

My mom is so great!

you are not a pure Chinese!

it is interesting to work for ///

every few months or so i get to meet someone new, a chinese person most of the time (actually all the time until now). we would take the same bus to work. i always take the same bus. as for the chinese people, it seems that they change often their schedule (they must be in support). so that's how i get to meet a new person for a month or so (before they change their schedule).

the other day, this chinese lady approached me and asked me about the bus, if it had arrived yet. i said no, then she said to me: you are not a pure Chinese!

what is this supposed to mean???

so, i asked her politely what she meant, and she said that according to my way of behaving, or just standing there to wait for the bus, she could tell that i was not from China (mainland ...).
interesting.

friends make me happy =)!!!

i love my friends!!!! they make me so happy!!!

i just found back my first (best) friend when i first arrived in France, at 7.

i did not treasure my friends at that time. i made friends very easily ... actually i was a real attraction to the whole school (being the only asian girl in a whole school of real French), i even tried to find many reasons to avoid people .. but now, when i look back, i regret that i didn't enjoy those happy times with so many friends ...

i realize that the older we get, the harder it is to make good friends.

so i was so happy when i saw my childhood friends on copains d'avant. they emailed me back too =) they still remember me!!

we have so many years to catch up but it will be fun. it is funny how life takes us ... =)

in the middle of my exams ...

2 down 2 more to go!!!!

Nostalgie

Baptism - this Easter

Three people got baptized this Easter. It was very refreshing to hear their testimonies, specially from more mature people than students!

God is good. I am reminded about his Faithfulness and Goodness all the time. I am so glad and thankful that HE came into my life. I wouldn't be able to do it myselffffff!!!

HAPPY TIMES!!! =)

Toronto

dim sum/family/studies/food/sleep

encouragement for today!

As the horrible exams approach, my heart starts to beat faster ... even though i have decided to not stress over my exams ...

Here is a good reminder. I try to do my best and the rest is left to God! =)

"Cast your burden on the Lord . . . ." You have been bearing it all, but you need to deliberately place one end on God’s shoulder. ". . . the government will be upon His shoulder" ( Isaiah 9:6 ). Commit to God whatever burden He has placed on you. Don’t just cast it aside, but put it over onto Him and place yourself there with it. You will see that your burden is then lightened by the sense of companionship. But you should never try to separate yourself from your burden.
From O. Chambers.

contemplation on loss

a note on loss ...

it is a weird feeling - the feeling of losing something or even someone ...
is it the worst feeling? i don't know but it is hard to concentrate when so much sadness invades you!
i guess only time can heal ... it is a good thing that we have a limited memory!

my bed

it is the most most greatest thing i have ever owned!! i can write a love poem about it!! =)

it feels so good to be laying down on my bed! I cannot explain it, but i realize that i enjoy more and more sleeping in my bed. I guess life is getting more and more stressful and complicated as i get older. my best consolation is in my bed!

love you my bed!!!

snif snif snif

http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2009/04/01/2003439917

...
Zookeepers discovered at feeding time yesterday that the two pandas are in fact Wenzhou brown forest bears that had been dyed to create the panda’s distinctive black-and-white appearance.
...

The pandas arrived in Taipei last December as a gift from the Chinese government. The pair were first offered three years ago, but were rejected by then-president Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁). After the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) candidate Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) won the presidential election last May, the pandas were accepted, though critics continue to decry what they see as an attempt by Beijing to bribe Taiwanese with cute, cuddly furballs in lieu of a more meaningful gesture of goodwill such as removing some of the 1,500 missiles China has pointed at Taiwan.

...

Even the pandas’ most diehard supporters were brokenhearted yesterday. Some angrily compared the subterfuge to last year’s contaminated milk scandal, when melamine that had been added to watered-down milk sickened 300,000 victims across China and led to a recall of diary products in countries including Taiwan.

“First the milk scandal
and now this. What are we going to hear next?” said Chang I-jun (張麗君), a Taipei resident.
…

not faithful to my dentist

i am never faithful to my dentist. whenever i change job i change change dentists. good things, there are enough of them =)

i don't like to go to a dentist's office of course but i am always fascinated by their offices and gadgets. something, no matter how ugly is the outside of their building, the inside is always very nice. i guess they must be making enough money!!

my last dentist had a super gadget ... he had a tv on the ceiling! that was the best. him and his assistant would even talk about birtney spears while cleaning my teeth!

for this new dentist, sadly he does not have a tv on the ceiling but he does have another cool gadget, it is a camera to see my ugly teeth!! i like the camera not my teeth!

a good reminder for me!

Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a
church in Houston , Texas . Some weeks after he arrived, he had an
occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he

sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a
quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to
himself, 'You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep
it.' Then he thought, 'Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry

about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much
fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep
quiet.'

When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he
handed the quarter to the driver and said, 'Here, you gave me too much
change '

The driver, with a smile, replied, 'Aren't you the new preacher in town?'

' Yes' he replied.

'Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship.

I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change.
I'll see you at church on Sunday.'

When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest

light pole, held on, and said, 'Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter.'

Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read.

This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians,
and will put us to the test! Always be on guard -- and remember
-- You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself
' Christian .'

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny..

The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not
PROTECT you...

Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL!

slumdog millionaire

i know the oscars are finished... but i just wanted to blog about this movie.

i saw it because a friend told me that it was good! the story line was good: how each question of the game who wants to be a millionaire is lived by this young man ...

plus it got many nominations at the time i saw the movie ....

well, after seeing the movie, i was very disappointed because i was not expecting a love story - the whole movie is about a love story after all!

the movie was good, i have to say - but did it deserve like 8 oscars?? this i am not sure ...

i also saw Walle - that was super good. he is so cute and much more human than the humans! there was a great lesson, not just a love story!!!

voila!

a suivre ...

she is not old at all and i am not ready to lose her!

i guess my mind has changed. 60 years old is not old anymore ....

Beautiful song!!

That was the song which was sung during the funerals:

"In Christ Alone"
Words and Music by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend
Copyright © 2001 Kingsway Thankyou Music

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.

So MAD!!!!!!!!

HAH!!!

I am so mad ... don't know what to do!! life is so unfair ...

Just got back my results from my patent agent examination review .. and the results are negative.

I can't believe it. I was so sure that I have passed at least one. I saw the answer. And my answer is right. I read maybe 5 times the invention. I think I understand it. It is not that difficult to understand!!!!!
So, there are 2 things. Either I am a total idiot and I don't understand anything or the examiner needs only their way of answering (for open questions)!
Either way, I have no chance to pass. Maybe i should just give up ... If i am a total idiot, i cannot do anything. In the other case, i cannot guess which answer they want and i don't feel that their answer is the best anyways ... so i cannot pass =(

i was so close to the passing mark this time, this is going to be as close as it can get for me!!!

ah!!!!! i am powerless and motivation-less!!!!!

who filed the most patent applications in 2008???

guess who?? it is China, yep, and more particularly HuaWei, take that Parasonic and Philips, which are respectively in second and third places!

even though HuaWei is fist only in the number of filed applications (not granted), China is no more who she used to be ... copying others .. but she is now doing research and developing her own style.

glad to know that! =)

i guess i can always go and work for HuaWei ... =) there is hope! ha!

a beautiful day in chapel hill, north carolina

It was a beautiful day in Chapel Hill indeed.
I am so glad that I went there ... The circumstances leading to this unplanned trip were not the most attractive ... but God was there with us to honour Yeemah!

This Sunday (Feb 8, 2009) was amazing. The weather was great, shining and the temperature almost reached 20C. More than 300 people came to the funeral service, after a very short notice of maybe 2 to 3 days. The church was packed! As people went forth to give their testimonies and sharing about Yeemah's life, I learned what kind of person she was. She was truly a blessing to others. She devoted her life to others and to the work and word of God. She touched so many lives! I could feel that God was very pleased with her and her life. She was indeed a good and faithful servant. Well Done!

I learned during that service how to die well .. A friend told me that it takes a life time to prepare how to die well. Very true indeed.

At the end of our life, money or whatever material possessions we have are not important but how God was glorified in our lives!

She went home ... with the Lord. It is sad for us but joyful for her.

I will remember this beautiful day, filled with sadness and joy!

losing friends ...

Recently, I had this thought that it is so easy to lose friends ...
The older we get the more rigid we become. I have seen that.
Friends isolate themselves and live in their own world. I have to make an extra effort to reach them, to enter their world ... but at the same time, I am getting more rigid too ... ah!!

aging is so hard! (not just physically) ... how to age well? i want to know!

Harper passed!!

this guy is too lucky!! the new opposition man let him get away ...

i feel that it is unfair that he goes unpunished each time ... but at least more and more people see how he is really.

no more coalition. that is too bad. i really liked that idea!

let's see what's going to happen ... it hasn't started well with the recession, job losses and the uncertainty of the government ... so it can just get better!

Text of President Barack Obama's inaugural address
By The Associated Press – 2 days ago
Text of President Barack Obama's inaugural address on Tuesday, as prepared for delivery and released by the Presidential Inaugural Committee.
OBAMA: My fellow citizens:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears, and true to our founding documents.
So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.
That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.
These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land — a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.
Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.
On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.
In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.
For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.
For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.
For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn.
Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.
This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.
For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act — not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. And all this we will do.
Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions — who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.
What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them — that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.
Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control — and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart — not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.
As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our founding fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. And so to all other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort — even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.
For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.
To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.
To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.
As we consider the road that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who, at this very hour, patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains. They have something to tell us today, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages. We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment — a moment that will define a generation — it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all.
For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.
Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends — hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism — these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.
This is the price and the promise of citizenship.
This is the source of our confidence — the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.
This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed — why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.
So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:
"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet (it)."
America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

in Toronto

I went to Toronto for training this week. I stayed in the King Edward hotel, in room 712, with a king size bed and LCD TV, located right in the heart of downtown ... well i still don't like Toronto. it was nice but just not for me!

I was there with some ex colleagues and they hated Toronto. The girls are ugly, not well dressed, etc. They had fun criticizing Toronto. It is bad i know!

I met a few people. Amazing, I saw a friend that I met 5 years ago in France! I had lunch with a friend and dinner with in-laws! I had time for shopping too. Things were so cheap! They were on sales ... how come I never do shopping during the sales in Montreal? =)

Oh well, that was my training. I didn't learn though, which is pretty sad because that I was the main goal!!!!

But I did have a good time - I have to say! =)

Apple's latest patent brilliance: the iGlove

it is good to be back though!
